Policy Statement

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) is committed to creating a safe educational environment for everyone in the University community. The University does not tolerate hazing and expects all students, faculty, staff, and anyone associated with the University to comply with all state laws and University policies related to prohibited associated with hazing.

University Policy 

Any allegations of hazing that occurs on or off campus will be administered through the University of Nebraska Student Code of Conduct.  


Campus Transparency Report

The Campus Transparency Report will summarize findings concerning student organizations that are recognized by the University and are found in violation of the University’s Standards of Responsible Conduct related to hazing. The goal of the Campus Transparency Report is to collect information regarding hazing incidents and provide the information to the public through a University website. The transparency report will include the name of the organization, the general description of the violation the organization has been found in violation, whether the incident involved alcohol or substance use, the findings, any sanctions/outcomes for the student organization, and the relevant dates (date of the incident, date the investigation began, the date the investigation ended, and the date the student organization was notified). Additional information that the University determined was necessary or information related to complying with local or state law may also be included in the Transparency Report.

If information that would normally be included in the Transparency Report would reveal personally identifiable information about an individual, the information will be excluded in compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.

In accordance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, information on the Campus Transparency Report will be updated at least twice annually and include information for five (5) years from the date information is initially posted on the Report.

 

Annual Security Report

The Annual Security Report is updated annually and includes campus safety and security policies and procedures along with crime statistics for the University for the last three years as outlined by the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act. Information from the Campus Transparency Report and the Hazing Prevention Education will be included in the Annual Security Report in accordance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act.
